The Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series is going big at Flying H Drag Strip, and calling its September 24-27 stop a doubleheader almost undersells what’s coming to this epic event.

The MWDRS Doubleheader Smackdown at Flying H Drag Strip will pack two complete, points-paying races into four days. That means separate qualifying and eliminations, two purses, and two opportunities for racers to make major moves in the championship standings.

Throw in Pro Mods, jet cars, a small-tire shootout, a planned car show, ride-alongs in dragsters, and more than $110,000 in payouts, and Flying H is shaping up for one of the biggest Mid-West Drag Racing Series events of the 2026 season.

Two Complete MWDRS Races In Four Days

The MWDRS Doubleheader Smackdown consists of two full and separate championship events.

The first race begins with qualifying on Thursday, September 24, followed by eliminations Friday night. Once that race is in the books, everything resets for another complete event. Saturday features qualifying for race two, with eliminations taking place Sunday.

For teams fighting for an MWDRS championship, that creates a unique situation. Instead of having one opportunity to gain or lose ground in the standings, racers will have two points-paying events packed into the same weekend.

Series founder Keith Haney expects plenty of serious racing as a result.

“The MWDRS will bring the best competitors in Pro Mod, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Pro 4.20, No Time 28 10.5, plus Pro Junior and Sportsman Junior for each race – One FULL Race with qualifying on Thursday and Eliminations on Friday night. And the second FULL Race with Qualifying on Saturday and Eliminations on Sunday. With more than $110,000 in payouts, there is more than pride and points on the line here. Flying H Classes will include Super Pro, 5.30 Index and 6.50 Index on Saturday. Get your cars ready, get your crew together and let’s make this the biggest weekend Flying H has seen this year,” said series founder Keith Haney

Pro Mods Headline A Loaded Flying H Lineup

The Mid-West Drag Racing Series has built its reputation around fast doorslammer racing, and the Doubleheader Smackdown won’t be short on horsepower.

Pro Mod will headline a lineup that also includes Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Pro 4.20, No Time 28 10.5, Pro Junior, and Sportsman Junior. Flying H’s own Super Pro, 5.30 Index, and 6.50 Index categories will join the program Saturday.

Running two complete events also means twice the opportunity for competitors to grab a win and collect valuable championship points. With the MWDRS season reaching a critical stage, every round at Flying H could have championship implications.

Jet Cars And Small Tire Shootout Add To The Show

The racing won’t stop with the regular MWDRS categories.

Douthit Motorsports is locked in to provide a jet car shootout, bringing another dose of fire and noise to the Flying H weekend. A small-tire shootout is also planned, giving fans a very different style of heads-up drag racing to watch alongside the series’ established categories.

Organizers are working on a car show as well, adding another attraction away from the racing surface.

For MWDRS announcer Luke Clevenger, it’s the combination of racing and entertainment that should make the Flying H doubleheader stand out.

“This is going to be an amazing event, in one of my favorite towns,” said series Announcer Luke Clevenger. “Jet Cars, Pro Mods, Car Shows, and an entire championship battle all in one amazing 4-day spectacular is going to be the kind of event you want to be at! Plus a great affordable price for tickets with ZERO parking fees means that everyone can make it. I can’t wait!”

Want To Ride In A Dragster?

There’s watching drag racing from the grandstands, and then there’s getting strapped into a dragster and experiencing the acceleration firsthand.

Proud American Motorsports will give Flying H spectators the opportunity to ride in a two- or three-seat dragster during the event.

For fans who have always wondered what it’s like to experience a dragster accelerating down the racetrack, the ride-along program offers a rare opportunity to find out without having to build a race car first.

MWDRS Keeps Flying H Ticket Prices Family-Friendly

Packing four days of racing and entertainment into a weekend can get expensive for a family, so the Mid-West Drag Racing Series is putting an emphasis on keeping admission affordable.

A full four-day ticket is priced at $60, giving spectators access to both complete MWDRS races. Friday and Saturday tickets are $25 per day, while Thursday and Sunday admission is $10 per day, and parking is free.

That’s a lot of racing for the money, especially considering fans can watch two separate points-paying MWDRS events over the course of the weekend.

Between two complete championship races, more than $110,000 in payouts, Pro Mods, jet cars, small-tire racing, sportsman categories, dragster ride-alongs, and additional attractions, the Doubleheader Smackdown is going to pack a big punch of drag racing entertainment. It’s four days where racers get two shots at a trophy, championship contenders get two chances to score points, and fans get twice the racing in one trip to Flying H.
