The Mopar NHRA Las Vegas Nationals presented by Dodge will go down in history as the first event ever to feature an all-three-second Funny Car field.
Back in 2011, Matt Hagan became the first driver to ever crack the three-second barrier in a Funny Car at an NHRA national event. After that historic run at zMAX Dragway, Justin Schriefer held down the quickest bump spot in Funny Car history with a 4.005 during the 2019 U.S. Nationals. At the 2026 Texas FallNationals, we almost saw the first all-three-second Funny Car field, with a total of 15 cars making three-second rips.

Conditions were perfect during the third session of Funny Car qualifying, with an air temperature of just 65 degrees and a track temperature of 82 degrees. Those are the numbers crew chiefs live for. When the final pair of cars made the trip down The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during Q3, Dave Richards’ 3.979 sealed the deal on the first three-second field.
After qualifying was complete, Jeff Diehl held the bump spot with a 3.968, while Jack Beckman went No. 1 with a 3.836 ET. The average ET for the first all-three-second field was 3.901. When you factor in the horsepower-robbing elevation of The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, this feat becomes even more impressive.
