It’s been one of those days at the NMCA WEST opener in Fontana with tricky track conditions plaguing the first round of qualifying. One person that it cost most dearly was True Ten Five racer Doug Sikora. Mid track had been where most racers succumbed to wheel spin but it was Sikora who made contact with the wall.
From the initial hit you could hear that Sikora was hazing the tires down the track, though kept it mostly straight. Though, right after the eighth mile cones, Sikora made hard contact with the left side wall and then shot across the track and made even harder contact with the right side wall. The Mustang has definitely seen better days but the important part was that Sikora walked away unharmed.
Live to build another day.
