It’s hard to deny that drag racing has seen a huge swing in the pendulum away from clutches in favor of automatic transmissions and torque converters. The numbers simply don’t lie, and the lock-up style converter has been a large part of this push forward in performance that not only matches, but in many cases, far exceeds what racers were once running with clutches.

For Neal Chance Racing Converters, its Billet Lockup converter has been nothing short of dominant; it’s racers won the PDRA Pro Extreme, Pro Nitrous, and Pro Boost championships, and other championships and races were won and records set using their 10-inch lockup converter this season. Not ones to rest when it comes to technology and offerings, Neal Chance developed a 9-inch converter to go with their eight and 10-inch versions and launched it here at the PRI Show.
“We think this converter is going to be very popular, in particular, with the blown alcohol racers out there. This converter will also really target the X275 racers, and particularly, those with the big-block nitrous combinations,” Marty Chance tell us.

With the new 9-inch, Marty Chance believes even greater things are to come in 2016, as they provide racers with a converter even more catered to their specific engine and power combinations.
