COMMISSO, PHARRIS, WENRICK OPEN NMCA SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE
Raymond Commisso (Xtreme Pro Mod), Daniel Pharris (Radial Wars), and Jarod Wenrick (Street Outlaw) were among the winners who kicked off their 2016 NMCA campaign with wins at the Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida on Sunday.
NMCA Bradenton
Canadian racer Raymond Commisso claimed the first victory of the 1/8-mile era of Xtreme Pro Mod racing in the NMCA on Sunday afternoon at the season opener in Bradenton, Florida, defeating No. 1 qualifier Randy Adler (who broke) in the final round with a 4.08-second lap. In Radial Wars, Daniel Pharris and DeWayne Mills engaged in what became the first side-by-side three-second run in the history of the class in the final round, with Pharris getting the win light by way of a holeshot, 3.99 to a quicker 3.97. In Street Outlaw, Jarod Wenrick just edged out Phil Hines, 4.50 to 4.51, for the title, while Bruno Massel earned the first ever Factory Super Car trophy, downing Glenn Pushis in the final, 8.55 to 8.82.

Bounty Hunters No Prep Grudge Nationals
The richest payout in no prep racing history was on the line at the inaugural Bounty Hunters No Prep Grudge Nationals in San Antonio, Texas over the weekend, and as fate would have it, it was a Pro Modified racer — not a grudge or street racing star — that claimed the cash. Texas racer Steve Wiley, not even planning to attend the event initially, showed up on Saturday morning and, without so much a test pass in his blown Corvette, scorched through the field and defeated Ricky Granado in the final for $50,000.
