In a show of increased support of grassroots drag racing, Strange Engineering has announced their Race Strange appreciation promotion for the upcoming Yellow Bullet Nationals, to be held over Labor Day weekend at the Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. Strange has been an active sponsor of Cecil County’s monthly Street Car Shootout Series events, and their involvement with inarguably one of the biggest heads-up outlaw drag races in the country is yet another opportunity for racers in the Northeast to increase their winnings courtesy of the Illinois-based manufacturer.
Strange Engineering has committed a sizable $20,000 to the Yellow Bullet Nationals, awarding $2,000 to racers in Outlaw 10.5, Pro Modified, 275 Drag Radial, 8.50 Index, Ultra 275, Top Sportsman, Super Street, Pro Street, Pro Dial and 10.00 Index who run Strange axles (Pro Race or Alloy) or rear brakes and display the corresponding contingency decals on their vehicles. Decals must be present on vehicles beginning prior to the first qualifying session for eligibility.
The payouts will be broken down round-by-round in each of the aforementioned categories, with $1,200 going to the class champion, $400 to the runner-up, and $400 to the driver in the 16th qualifying position at the conclusion of qualifying.
“I have been to 27 straight NHRA Indy races over Labor Day weekend, until Crystal and I decided to go to Cecil two years ago, and I was immediately at home,” says Strange’s Jeff Stange. “The Yellowbullet.com Nationals at Cecil has become my new drag racing Indy. Crystal and I look forward to watching the races and enjoying visiting everyone we can. I would like to thank Monty Mikho and Jim Halsey (Cecil County) for their help and ensuring 100 percent of the payout goes directly to the racers. We all just want to truly give back and enjoy the event — it’s that simple.”
