ProTorque converter-equipped racers had a banner weekend at the season-ending NMCA World Street Finals in Indianapolis this weekend, garnering world championships, race victories, and number one qualifying positions in both the NMCA and Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series.

In Pro Mod, ProTorque racer, Mark Luton, on the heels of some stellar numbers from his MMR-powered Mustang all weekend long, drove all the way to the final round, coming up just short of opponent Steve Summers in a 3.80 to 3.92 contest.

In Radial Wars, ProTorque racers also figured squarely into the title battle; both Marty Stinnett, the incoming points leader, and his closest challenger, Josh Klugger, were running the EV1 converter, as was DeWayne Mills, who played the spoiler role on raceday. Stinnett, in his small-block Mustang, qualified atop the field with a stellar 3.88, but in a do-or-die match with Mills in the semifinals, came up just short, 3.87 to 3.89. with that, Klugger simply had to stage the car in the final to claim the championship. With the points battle concluded, it was game-on for Mills and Klugger, as they rocketed into the waning daylight, with mills claimed a decisive 3.88 to 3.97 victory.

Another Radial Wars competitor, Nicole Priola, also showed off her EV2 combination, carding a career-best 4.36 in her supercharged Camaro.

In Street Outlaw, Daniel Pharris completed as fine a debut as one could hope for, taking his newly-acquired ’95 Cobra to the winner’s circle in its first race, defeating new series champion Charlie Cooper in the finale, 4.42 to a right-there 4.45. Cooper, interestingly, is also in the running for the NMRA Street Outlaw title, which will be decided this weekend in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In Extreme Street, ProTorque racers Nick McGrath claimed the victory with his Gen X-equipped Mustang, as Jessie Coulter (also running the Gen x) claimed the series championship. Coulter, impressively, doubled-up on the season, earning the LSX Real Street victory over McGrath and also claiming the class championship.

In the other LSX heads-up eliminator, Drag Radial, Anthony Manna qualified number one and won the event with his EV1 converter, defeating Andy Essary and his EV1-equipped Camaro in the final.

“Days like this, they dont happen everyday, so we thank God everyday that we even have the opportunity to work with these guys,” says ProTorque’s Joe Rivera. “And lets not get it twisted — our products are still going rounds, winning races and taking championships….No hocus-pocus stuff, just good product and good service.”

ProTorque racer have been making waves elsewhere in the sport of late, as Paja Agatonivic earned the Outlaw 10,5 victory this weekend in Woodburn, Oregon in his EV1-eqipped Camaro, while at drag week, Matt Blasco (EV1) won the Pro Street Power Adder class and Joe Barry claimed the Ultimate Iron honors (EV1). Bryant Goldstone (EV1) also got in on the action, earning the Pro Street crown at the Shakedown at the Summit.
