Gary Williams is no stranger to big checks at the Fling, and on Wednesday night in Las Vegas, he added another one to the collection. This time he cashed in for $30,000 at the Moser Engineering Spring Fling Million presented by RAD Torque Systems at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The ladder tightened up with six heavy hitters remaining: Jayden Lawler, Scott Taylor, Gabe Torres, Gabriel Hernandez Sr., Colby Fuller, and Gary Williams. Lawler continued his strong performance, laying down a .013 light and running .01 above to knock off Scott Taylor. Meanwhile, Williams survived a double-breakout situation against Colby Fuller, going .001 and taking the win over Fuller’s .008 breakout effort. In the final pair of that round, Gabriel Hernandez Sr. went just .005 red, handing the win to Torres and setting the stage for the semifinal showdown.

Lawler had been sharp leading into the final, showing he could get it done under pressure. In the semifinals, he held a razor-thin .009 advantage on the starting line over Gabe Torres, the lone dragster left in the field, and turned it into a win by just .006 at the stripe. On the other side, Williams took a solo pass into the final, giving him the luxury of staying in rhythm without having to race side-by-side pressure in the semis.

When the dust settled, it was an all-door car final that brought the crowd to its feet. Williams, repping Bradenton, Florida, wheeled his familiar ’02 Sonoma “Ole Red” into the money round against Lawler of Jacksonville, North Carolina in a Cobalt. But instead of a close race to the stripe, the outcome was decided early. Lawler turned it red, handing the victory and the $30,000 payday to Williams.

This win marks Williams’ second $30K Fling score, adding to an already stout résumé that includes multiple $15K victories and shootout wins. In typical bracket racing fashion, consistency and composure carried the day.

Before diving into Super Pro eliminations, Scott Taylor of Columbia Falls, Montana grabbed a win in the Laris Motorsports Insurance Pro Field. He topped Steven Mang from Westminster, Colorado to collect a $1,000 bonus before merging into the main Super Pro ladder.

The action at Las Vegas is far from over. Cascade Truck Body and Trailer Sales Thursday brings another $30,000-to-win opportunity, along with the debut of the Mr Cool DIY Direct Second Shot Shootout. This new program gives the top 16 best losing packages from the re-entry round a second chance to race for free for a $3,000 payday.

If you can’t make it to the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, every round of action is being streamed live exclusively on the @RaceTheFlings YouTube channel, courtesy of Hoosier Racing Tire and JEGS Performance. Gate entries remain open throughout the week, keeping the door open for racers ready to roll the dice in one of bracket racing’s biggest events.
