Driving KH Al Thani’s Al-Anabi Racing ’68 Camaro, Alex Hossler earned the Pro Extreme title at the season-opening Dragpalooza VIII at the Royal Purple Raceway in Houston on Saturday, take a rather anticlimactic final when teammate Von Smith was unable to stop after his burnout. In Pro Nitrous, Rickie Jones earned his first Minuteman with a decisive win over Bob Rahaim, while veteran Alan Pittman got his first series in in Extreme 10.5. Casey Stempe and John Pluchino also won for the first time in Pro Extreme Motorcycle and Extreme Pro Stock, respectively, while Mike Castellana notched his first in the Pro Modified category. NHRA: Event Recap on DRAGZINE. Allen Johnson walked way victorious following a rare all-Mopar Pro Stock final at the fourth stop on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series on Sunday in Las Vegas as he downed young Vincent Nobile, 6.64 to 6.73. In Top Fuel, Spencer Massey won for the second time this season in a great drag race with teammate Antron Brown, while John Force Racing continued its Funny Car stronghold with Robert Hight collecting his third straight win. Bill Evans led the pro winners on Friday at the San Antonio Nitro Jam, earning Pro Fuel Dragster honors over Kristen Dennis, 5.53 to 6.02. John Hale took the Prostalgia Funny Car crown as Peter Gallen was forced to shut off, and Ron Maroney continued his winning ways in Fuel Altered, blasting to a 6.53-second win over Kyle Hough. Jay Turner, debuting a new bike, won Nitro Harley with a great 6.52 over a slowing Jake Stordeur. On Saturday, Dennis avenged her Pro Fuel loss over Evans and Mitch King stepped up to take the Prostalgia Funny Car title on a holeshot over Mike Savage, 5.94 to 5.85, while Maroney and Turner followed up their Friday performances with another win in their respective categories. IHRA Division 4: Joseph Tinsley won Top Dragster on day one of the IHRA Pro-Am Division 4 opener at the San Antonio Raceway, defeating a slowing Larry Edison in the final. He was joined by Top Sportsman winner Glenn Wright, who earned a gift when he slowed and opponent Mark Ellis broke out at the stripe. On day tow, Bart Nelson ran closer to the 8.90 index for the Quick Rod title, ans Kirk Morgan edged out Darrell Erwin in a close Stock Eliminator final for the event win. Spring Civil Wars: After outlasting some stout competition in Outlaw Drag Radial, Tony Ridenour used a great 4.50 in the final to defeat a slowing Keith Szabo at the Holcomb Motorsports Spring Civil Wars at the Rockingham Dragway on Sunday. In X275, Dean Marinisbested Barry Mitchell on a huge holeshot, 4.81 to 4.79, to collect the $10,000 winners purse, and Marty Stinnett emerged the victor in Outlaw X, running a 4.78 to David Pearsons’ right-there 4.81. John Phillips (Real Street 275) and Bil Kother (SSR275) were also winners at the annual heads-up spectacular.
