AL-THANI GRABS FIRST ADRL WIN IN CONVINCING FASHION

ADRL: Complete same day coverage on Dragzine. An exciting and record-breaking event at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, VA culminated with the first victory on American soil for KH Al-Thani in Pro Extreme at the Speedtech U.S Drags III. NHRA: The reigning NHRA Full Throttle champions all dominated their respective categories on race day at Heartland Park Topeka, as Tony Schumacher, Robert Hight, and Mike Edwards all collected wins that helped to increase their points leads or move them up in the standings in their title defense. Battle of the Big Dawgs: Doorslammer veteran Steve Kirk Jr. won the much-anticipated $90,000 winner-take-all Battle of the Big Dawgs featuring automatic, nitrous Pro Mods, with a final round rout of race promoter Mike Hill, 4.02 to 4.04. IHRA Division 2 Pro-Am: The IHRA’s Division 2 Heat Wave competitors ascended upon Montgomery Motorsports Park for a weekend double-header, where on Friday, Jim Huggett and bob Mandell Jr. grabbed wins in top Dragster and Top Sportsman, respectively. On Saturday, Jeff Adkinson won a tight Super Stock final over Todd Ewing, and Kevin Pruett did the same in Quick Rod to best Tommy Kelley. IHRA Division 9 Pro-Am: The Division 9 Pro-am Tour visited Coastal Plains Dragway in Jacksonville, NC, where Dale McSwain grabbed the Top Sportsman victory over Reggie Norris, and Derrik Sholar defeated E.J. NHRA Lucas Oil Division 3: The North Central Division racers returned to O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis for the make-up of the event that was rained out in April. Bill Reichert continued his torrid pace in Top Alcohol Dragster, besting Ken Perry in a classic blown vs. injected nitro finale, while Andy Bohl got the Top Alcohol Funny Car win, topping Brent Henry.
