HIGHT, BROWN, LINE SCORE IN ALL-TEAM FINAL ROUNDS AT PHOENIX

Mickey Thompson Tires Monday Morning Race Report

NHRA: Event Recap on DRAGZINE. Antron Brown and Tony Schumacher led off the first of the three all-team professional final rounds at the second NHRA Full Throttle event of the season in Phoenix on Sunday, as Brown once again denied Schumacher a long-awaited race win, charging to a 3.79 to 3.81 victory. In Funny Car, Robert Hight and teammate Mike Neff squared off in an epic all-Force finale, as Hight captured his first Phoenix win by a 4.13 to 4.16 count as both drivers were welded together out of the gate. And in Pro Stock, the Summit team took home the hardware for the second race in as many weeks, as Jason Line drove around teammate Greg Anderson by just three feet for his first win on the season. PSCA: The PSCA kicked off the 2012 season in style at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend, as Mike Maggio and Marc Meadors produced the first side-by-side five-second runs in series history in the Pro Street finale. Maggio, who qualified No.1 at 5.94, downed a red-lighting Meadors in the money round, running 5.97 to a quicker 5.96. In Outlaw 10.5, Gary Soulages took his awesome Lightning pickup to the crown with a 6.68 to drive away from Ron Weems’ game 6.87. Rich Hoyle, meanwhile, cruised to the Extreme Drag Radial title in the eighth-mile contest versus Al Jimenez, Hoyle’s 4.76 outrunning a 4.84. DJ Reid (Outlaw 8.5) and Kevin Young (Wild Street) were also among the winners at the season opener. NHRA Division 2: The NHRA’s Southeast Division put its second event in the books in as many weeks on Sunday at the Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville, in Florida, headed by Kris Hool’s victory in Top Alcohol Funny Car over Mickey Ferro, thanks to an incredible .002 reaction time. with the other classes shortened to an eighth-mile after strong winds took their hold, Grant Lewis edged Glen Treadwell for the Competition Eliminator title, while Gary Richard (Super Stock), Jeff Taylor (Stock), and Sherman Adcock (Super Comp and Super Gas double-up) were among the winners. The Top Alcohol Dragster final, between Rich McPhillips and Mark Taliaferro will take place during qualifying for the Tire Kingdom Gatornationals in Gainesville next month.  For complete results, visit Drag Race Central.
