Mickey Thompson Tires DragZine Race Report

r3NHRA: Race Recap from Denver. Allen Johnson solidified his place as king of “Thunder Mountain” on Sunday, earning his fourth win in five years and advancing to his seventh straight final round in Pro Stock at the Mile-High Nationals at the Bandimere Speedway. Johnson downed fellow Mopar runner and local resident V. Gaines in the final round. Spencer Massey claimed his third victory of the season in Top Fuel, defeating Bob Vandergriff in the final, 3.97 to 4.02. In Funny Car, Cruz Pedregon raced to his third victory of the season, as well, knocking off Bob Tasca in the final round with a 4.23. And in perhaps one of the best stories of the season, Shawn Gann ended a long nine-year winless streak in Pro Stock Motorcycle as he defeated Hector Arana Jr. in the final round at the site of his last win, in 2004. MoparNJ_NatsIHRA Nitro Jam: Former Pro Modified racer Ike Maier picked up his first and second career IHRA Top Fuel victory in Grand Bend, Ontario at the Mopar Nitro Jam, ousting Bobby Lagana Jr. on both days of competition. Tracy Kile did likewise in Nitro Harley, defeating Jay Turner on back-to-back days. And Peter Gallen, who is no stranger to victory circle, drove his ’77 Monza to a pair of wins on the weekend to complete the three-man sweep of the weekend, downing Mike Minick and his ’73 Charger in Prostalgia Funny Car. r1NHRA Division 1: Lincoln Morehead drove his D/EA Chevy Cavalier to the Competition Eliminator crown at the Northeast division Lucas Oil Series meet at the New England Dragway Sunday, downing a red-lighting Calvin Hill in the final. r1NHRA Division 5: The West Central divisions’ rained-out Denver divisional, contested last month, was completed as part of the NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere over the weekend, with Lou Ficco Jr. leading the winners in the delayed finals with his Competition Eliminator triumph, as he defeated Torris Keilers in the money round. Henry Sliwiniski was nearly perfect with a .002 light in the Super Stock final to overcome the perfect .000 light by opponent Jim Hawkins, and Mike Chitty was perfect in the Top Sportsman final round to seal the victory. For complete results from the rain delayed event, visit Drag Race Central.

r1NHRA Division 7: Scott McClay went red in his dragster in the Competition Eliminator final round at the NHRA Pacific division meet at the Sonoma Raceway in California over the weekend, handing the easy win over to Doug Lambeck. Greg Luneack put his ’65 Nova in victory lane in Super Stock, while Tommy Gaynor scored in Stock with his B/SA Corvette. For more from Sonoma, visit NHRADiv7.com.
