It was a record-breaking weekend for the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Pro Stock class at the Texas NHRA FallNationals. The legendary surface of the Texas Motorplex and perfect atmospheric conditions set the stage for Dallas Glenn to reset the class’s elapsed-time (ET) record with a 6.434-second run at 213.50 mph.
Pro Stock received three qualifying sessions on Saturday due to unsafe conditions for the class on Friday. That gave Pro Stock racers a chance to make three runs on Saturday in ideal conditions for making big naturally aspirated horsepower.
The teams took full advantage of the situation, with Glenn’s record-setting run leading the way.
“When it left, it felt really good and I was telling myself, don’t mess this up because you’re on a run,” Glenn said. “I went through the finish line, made the corner; the cameras are looking at you, which is always a good sign. But then, nobody came over to say anything. I get out of the car, and I’m like, well, did I get it? Then Rick Dodge was like, ‘Yep, you got it.’”

Glenn’s new national record was just the tip of the iceberg. The 16-car field was also the quickest in Pro Stock history. Every racer was in the 6.40s, with Stephen Bell rounding out the field with a 6.495-second ET. The spread from No. 1 to No. 16 was just 0.061 seconds.
This was one of the final races of the flat-hood era in Pro Stock, and it was impressive. As we turn our attention to the 2027 season and the return of hood scoops for Pro Stock, the question becomes: Will we get to see this record fall again? The horsepower magicians who populate Pro Stock will certainly do their best to make that happen next year.
