Sean Madden Wins WI Outlaw Stick Shift Challenge At Great Lakes Dragway

The stick shift racing movement continues to grow. Those lovers of the man pedal made the trip to Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, Wisconsin, to be a part of the Third Annual WI Outlaw Stick Shift Challenge that’s put on by Ryan Pederson. It was a weekend filled with six-second passes and great racing action.

There has been a massive influx of technology and fast cars into the stick-shift racing world. This style of racing has blossomed into something special and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Joel Grannas recently reset the H-pattern record with his 2JZ-powered Mustang. Brett LaSalla has brought his brutally quick “Snot Rocket 3.0” Mustang into the stick-shift racing fold.

The WI Outlaw Stick Shift Challenge was broken up into two classes based on E.T.: Outlaw Stick and Street Stick. In the Street Stick final, Michael Recchia was able to score a win over Andrew Calkin.

Outlaw Stick was where the biggest dogs in the yard squared off to see who was the quickest at Great Lakes Dragway. Sean Madden brought his stunning “Django” C7 Corvette to the race looking to add another stick-shift win to his résumé.

Madden’s weekend was nearly ended after the first round due to some pushrod issues. A fellow racer provided some pushrods that helped get him to the final round, where he faced off against Patrick Lewis, who happened to be driving Madden’s other Corvette, known as “Betty White.” Madden was able to pick up the win and has his eyes set on becoming one of the quickest stick-shift cars in the country.
