The IHRA continues to make big moves. It has officially announced its purchase of Piedmont Dragway in Julian, North Carolina, laid out its 2026 schedule dates.

Early in 2025, IHRA owner Darryl Cuttell purchased Darana Raceway – Hebron (formerly National Trail Raceway), Darana Dragway – Milan (formerly Milan Dragway), Kil-Kare Raceway, and GALOT Motorsports Park. There have been major investments in these facilities, and there were hints that more facilities would be purchased. Cuttell has made it very clear that his goal is to make each track a great place to race.

The purchase of Piedmont Dragway adds another facility to the IHRA’s growing portfolio. There are plans to improve the infrastructure of the track, event offerings, and fan experience. Cuttell has also made it clear that sportsman racers will benefit greatly from the purchase of the track.

The IHRA also dropped the dates for its 2026 schedule with a total of 12 national events. Locations for each event haven’t been announced yet because the IHRA is working on finalizing where each event will be held.

“We’re putting together events that fans and racers will talk about all year long. This isn’t just about racing – it’s about creating experiences people want to be a part of,” said Cuttell.
