PRI 2012: Bell Racing’s New Helmets And Paint Schemes

There’s no denying how our beloved motorsports’ activities can be extremely dangerous. Over the past two decades we have seen a huge increase in safety technology within the motorsports community. The folks at Bell Racing were once again showcasing the latest in their arsenal to make racing as safe as possible at PRI 2012.

Last year, Bell started offering paint jobs that appeared like a driver had received a custom paint scheme thrown on his helmet, “We wanted to give people the option of the custom look, without having the expense of having it custom painted,” explained Kyle Keitzsmann of Bell Racing.

At PRI 2012 Kietzsmann went on to show us their intimidating looking Vador model that was new last year, but now offered with the new Predator paint scheme shown above.

Bell Racing also debuted their brand new 500-TX for their classic line that is a throwback open face design for vintage racers.

Vador features:

  • Lightweight composite shell with a comfortable interior fit.
  • Rear facing vents to prevent dust and dirt from entering the helmet.
  • A 289 SRV (3MM) shield with thumb tab on the drivers left side to allow for easy shield operation.
  • SRV-1 visor system and new rubber eyeport gasket for improved visor seal.
  • Each helmet comes with a clear shield and Bell visor strip as standard equipment.

The Vador also features Bell’s redesigned face piece with recessed areas that allow for seamless radio integration and easy installation. Racers can also customize the fit of the Vador by using Bell’s Cheek Pad Inserts in 5mm, 10mm, 15mm and 20mm sizes to tighten the fit in the cheek area. Besides the new Predator design, the helmet is also available in white and rubberized Matte Black finish – the rubberized surface is more resistant to finger prints and smudges than traditional flat finishes.
