At PRI 2012, Moroso showed us how they have updated their famous DS2 brand of front drag race tire. Moroso has created the DS2 with an aircraft inspired tread and for the first time is now available in a 17-inch version.
“We came out with a 17-inch version of our famous DS2, for the guys with new Camaros, Challengers, and Mustangs,” Explained Thor Schroeder. “Now they can go with a 17 inch drag tire and they won’t have to get rid of their factory braking system.”
By utilizing an aircraft inspired tread on the front drag radials, Schroeder explained to us that the during acceleration the tire’s crown becomes higher to increase speed. However during breaking the footprint broadens for improved contact to the surface of the road.
