From drag racing to truck pulling, Virginia-based AED Performance is one of the industry’s go-to sources for high performance carburetors up to the task of delivering air and fuel in sizable quantities to big-inch engines, and here at PRI, they’re showing off some of their latest and greatest pieces, headlined by the G-5 Series Billet large bore race carburetor.

The billet G-5, a billet main body four-barrel monster with 2.200- to 2.600-inch bore sizes, featured fully adjustable billet Pro Series metering blocks, an externally adjustable throttle linkage, custom billet boosters, high capacity fuel bowls, and custom wet-flowed fuel curve for the engine and fuel type — which covers gasoline, E85, and alcohol.

“From Pro Nitrous to truck pulling — anything with a high horsepower application, dragsters, door cars, you name it, if they’re racing it with a big-inch motor that makes a lot of power, this is the piece for them,” AED’s Trey Dotson says. “Typically you’re looking at anything 632 inches and larger — this is an 1,800 to 2,000 horsepower carburetor.”

Through a streamlining of their machining process, AED has reduced the price on the G-5 from $2,500 to $1,899 for the exact same product.

AED custom builds each and every carburetor specific to the customers’ engine and fuel needs, and as Dotson shares, they’re spec’ed to within one jet number of dead-on. “All they should need to do is bolt this thing on, set the idle adjustment speed screw, and go have at it. There’s no guessing to it on a wet flow bench, so we know exactly what the air/fuel ratio is on this piece before it ever leaves the shop.”

AED also offers a split 4500 G-5 carburetor for those that don’t have a 4500-type flange and prefer to run splits to get them offset and closer to the intake runner.

For those looking for less-flowing but certainly still high quality race carburetor, AED produces pieces for every application and budget, with their HPHO, HM, HO-EC, and other series of high performance carbs.
