Walking the tightrope of parts that are both lightweight and strong is something aftermarket wheel manufacturers have been dealing with since the industry took off. Having both of these attributes in a wheel for drag racing is never easy, due to the demands the sport puts on parts. But the team at Race Star Wheels have a solution. Its new Pro Forged Drag Wheels provide big weight savings and are strong enough to meet SFI standards.
The Pro Forged Drag Wheel is the product of Race Star listening to customers and creating a wheel that fits their needs. Greg Bennett from Race Star talks about everything the company wanted to combine into one great wheel.
“We wanted to design a wheel that was lightweight, SFI approved, and for drag racing use only. The front wheels were tested with a side impact test that isn’t even required by SFI, because we thought it was important. With some of these heavier cars going as fast as they do, it was critical for us to have such a safe wheel that provided great performance.”
The Pro Forged wheels are made from an aluminum forging that’s stronger than a billet wheel, and much lighter than a steel wheel. This added strength was something Race Star wanted to bring to these wheels so they could be used on cars that have brutally quick 60-foot times.
The wheels are available in 16×16 beadlock and non-beadlock styles at this time. Race Star also has a liner-style wheel available that features an improved design. The Pro Forged wheel comes in 15-inch sizes from 15×10 all the way up to 15×15. Each wheel design is also available as a front-runner in different sizes too.
