AFCO has never built parts for average conditions, and drag-and-drive racing is anything but average. At the 2025 PRI Show, AFCO rolled out two new front strut options designed specifically for the drag-and-drive crowd. The new lineup includes a single-adjustable strut and a double-adjustable strut, both designed to fit 1979–2004 Mustangs.
We caught up with Eric Saffell to get the details on the new products. “With the new long-travel front strut, which may also appeal to low-prep or no-prep racers, this double-adjustable long-travel strut adds an additional two inches of total travel,” Saffell explained.
That added travel gives racers looking for improved front-to-back weight transfer a wide range of adjustment in both rebound and compression. The result is the ability to tune for a softer launch with a firmer landing, depending on what the car needs. The strut is available as a coilover and comes in a standard package that includes both upper and lower spring seats.

AFCO also introduced a new option aimed at more budget-friendly bracket programs: a single-adjustable Mustang strut. This is a product AFCO has never offered before and one that could be a game changer for many racers. “With this product, you still get robust valving and a large range of adjustment on the rebound side, so racers can still control weight transfer,” Saffell stated.

The single-adjustable strut serves as a stepping stone for teams looking to move into a higher-end AFCO product without breaking the bank, while still offering the ability to upgrade to a double-adjustable setup down the road.
With these new front strut options, AFCO continues to prove it is listening to racers and designing solutions for every type of program. From street miles to hard track launches, these new struts deliver the adjustability and durability that drag-and-drive racers depend on.
