The amount of horsepower that can be made with a stock Coyote engine is downright crazy. As power levels continue to climb, an upgraded 10R80 torque converter has become a necessary upgrade for combinations producing serious horsepower. FTI Performance now has a weld together 10R80 torque converter specifically designed for high-horsepower, Coyote-powered applications that use a 10R80 transmission.
The upgraded 10R80 torque converters offered by FTI do not use an OEM core. Instead, they are fully designed and manufactured in-house by FTI and utilize furnace-brazed construction. The redesigned core features a billet steel cover to significantly increase strength and durability.

Inside the torque converter, the clutch pack has been relocated to the rear of the unit. This change was made to further enhance strength and improve long-term durability in high-horsepower applications. FTI also designed its own billet steel stator for the new converter, and the company currently offers 20 different stator combinations to tailor performance to specific setups.
FTI is currently putting this new 10R80 torque converter through its testing and validation process. The company expects the final version of the converter to be ready before the end of the first quarter of 2026. More information on this high-horsepower, weld together 10R80 torque converter will be available on FTI’s website.
