We’ve had some great teams apply to be part of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout, presented by Summit Racing.
We’re looking for builders and racers who can step up to the challenge of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout. Each team must be able to build a competitive car in just six days. To make things even more challenging, each four-person team receives a $7,000 Summit Racing gift card to supplement the $3,000 in cash they bring to the table to fund the build.
That means teams are not only facing a tight deadline to complete their vehicles, but also working with a limited budget to make it happen.
After reviewing the applications we’ve received so far, Team Next, captained by Isaac and Adam Preston, is the first team selected for season four of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout, presented by Summit Racing.

The Preston brothers are the proprietors of Next Motorsports Racecars, where they build some of the quickest and fastest heads-up race cars in the country. They have been drag racing with their father since the early 2000s and have compiled an impressive résumé of wins.
When Isaac and Adam make the trip to Big 3 Racing in West Salem, Ohio, where the builds will take place, they’ll bring along their father, Shawn Preston, and Logan Duvall to round out their team. For their build, Team Next plans to bring a fourth-gen Camaro to the Horsepower Wars party.
One of the twists we’re throwing at the teams this season is the use of a single power-adder: nitrous oxide. The teams also won’t know whether they’ll be using a Holley EFI system or an Edelbrock carburetor with their engine. That shouldn’t be a problem for Team Next, since they have plenty of experience with nitrous, EFI, and carbureted applications.
Who else will join Big 3 Racing and Team Next on this season of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout, presented by Summit Racing? You’ll have to keep following along on Dragzine and the Horsepower Wars social media channels. We still have one more team to announce, and then you’ll see which teams will be pitted against each other in the fan vote.
Horsepower Wars would like to thank its sponsors of the $10K Drag Shootout 4, including Summit Racing, Old World Industries/PEAK, SPAL, VP Racing, Edelbrock, COMP Cams, ARP, Cometic Gasket, ATI Performance Products, JE Pistons, Total Seal, Holley, Moroso, Racequip, and NOS.
