Adam Flamholc absolutely loves traveling to the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida to compete, but in 2017 he won’t be racing at the event. Not being able to wheel a supercharged Pro Mod isn’t going to keep Flamholc on the sidelines — he will be at Bradenton with Rick Eaton driving his 2012 Mustang as he plays the role of crew chief. Flamholc doesn’t plan on holding anything back and giving Eaton a car that could bring home the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals Pro Mod title in 2017.

This season has been a roller coaster of emotions for Flamholc that reached a high when he was leading the NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod points, to a serious low when he crashed his 1963 Corvette at the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl in Chicago. Not to be denied, Flamholc and his team embarked on an epic thrash to get his newly-purchased 2012 Mustang ready at Chris Duncan Race Cars to continue his championship quest, but when he got to his home in Sweden something just wasn’t right.

“A couple of days after [the crash] I had some pain in my chest, but after a couple of hours, it felt better. Two days later the pain came back worse and it didn’t get better, so my wife and I went to the hospital here in Sweden. It turned out I had a blood clot when I crashed that made its way up to my heart and blocked some blood vessels around it,” Flamholc explains.

His medical team put him on medication for three months and won’t allow him to drive a racecar during this time period, but that won’t keep Flamholc away from the track. Since Flamholc loves coming to the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals he put out a cattle call on Facebook and found Rick Eaton to fill the seat at the event.

“Rick is located close to us in Florida and has followed our team for a few years. He has a great background in racing and was the best choice,” Flamholc says.

With a driver ready, Flamholc now plans on focusing his time at the event tuning his Mustang along with a few other cars.

“I like the tuning part as much as the driving. You always learn something new, and it’s different to stand outside the car compared to when you drive it. I think it’s a good combination to have both of those experiences so you can really learn what a car does during a pass,” Flamholc explains.

Flamholc enjoys his time at the Snowbirds since Bradenton is his home track while he’s in the states. This event provides him a great opportunity to test with such a great track surface and excellent weather, but don’t think he treats this event as a vacation … he’s here to win.

“My goal for both the upcoming races is to have one of the top five fastest cars at the event. It’s my job to make them consistent and the driver’s job to bring them to the winner’s circle,” Flamholc says.
