With Pro Modified racing reaching new heights as a professional category and stretching its scope around the world, the competition has become as cut throat as any class in the sport. Remaining at the top requires constant technological advancement, and just like in Pro Stock, if any team so much as stops to catch their breathe, they may find themselves behind the eight ball.
As a veteran in the class, Mike Janis and his Jan-Cen team understand that as well as anyone, and for that reason, they have formed an exciting new partnership with none other than champion Top Fuel crew chief Alan Johnson and his Alan Johnson Performance Engineering to assist in the development of an all new 5300 Hemi Outlaw Pro Mod powerplant.
From what we understand from initial information on the engine, the “5300” moniker implies that it will be based upon the 5.300″ bore spacing cylinder blocks and cylinder heads that have become the status quo on the tech front in nitrous doorslammer racing and a key element to their surge in performance in recent years.
In the coming weeks, an extensive testing program on the engine is scheduled to commence with the first phase being performed on the dyno at the Jan-Cen facility.
From there, the innovative new supercharged engine will join Janis and the entire Jan-Cen team on the race track, where they will mark their return to the intense competition of the ADRL’s Pro Extreme class in their pursuit of a “Battle for the Belts” crown.
