Alan Stevens and Jake Brantner are teaming up this year for the Valley Automotive Machine Performance (VAMP) series 275 Drag Radial class in Kansas City held at KCIR.
Jake’s post over on YellowBullet brought our attention to this clean Midwest ride
For the past two years they ran Alan’s Mustang in the series after a radial tire class was created to fill a long over due void. Starting out with a 347 ci small block Ford on nitrous, then switching to an F1R Procharger for 2009 and running a best of 5.65. At the end of last year the little 347 broke a lifter. Weighing their options, they decided to team up to bring it too the next level this year with Alan selling some parts that would no longer be needed to fund chassis upgrades by Jakes Performance, and Jake doing the same to fund the new powerplant.

Steve Morris of New Era Racecraft got the call for the engine, which will be a 509 ci BBC with an F3R Procharger. Morris is well known for blow through set ups and C&S Specialties was given the nod to spec out a Dominator for them.
The Mustang is being updated to 25.3 spec. and is being fitted with a Team Z Motorsports custom 9” rear, Strange Brakes and a Neal glide for 2010. Two sponsors that carried over to this year are Jason Davis from Painted with Powder and Brian Morgan with OEM Services. Here you can see last years powder coated carb hat close up.
They plan to mostly run the VAMP series this year as well hit a couple of the TT5 races held at the track owned by Marty Chance in the Ozarks, plus other Midwest events as money and time allows.
“We are excited about what we learned and where we went wrong last year and look forward to putting this combo to good use. Without the support of our families and friends and our sponsors this wouldn’t be happening,” said Jake Brantner. This team is made up of friends and family with Alan’s wife Jessie and their sons Daeton and Talon also making the trip to the races often. Brantner owns the engine and handles the tuning and fabrication on the car. Sponsor Jason Davis comes out to the track to help when he can as well as Greg Harris, who films the runs down the track. Ric Farrow is responsible for the wiring.
