Jim Beattie started ATI Performance Products over 50 years ago to meet the needs of drag racing enthusiasts. Since the company’s start, it has progressed from transmission parts to a full line of harmonic balancers, blower pulleys, torque converters, and various fluids for performance applications. ATI’s product line encompasses several popular makes and models to make everyone quicker and faster.

That was Beattie’s goal in life; to make everyone quicker and faster with his products. Unfortunately, Beattie passed away earlier this year, leaving the company continues to prosper under the leadership of his son, JC Beattie, Jr. Now, the company has found the proper way to honor the memory of its founder and family patriarch.

As part of the NHRA Division 1 LODRS event at the Cecil County Dragway in Maryland August 14th-16th, ATI Performance Products will contest the inaugural Jim Beattie Stock/Super Stock Memorial Race. ATI will award the winner or highest finisher using an automatic transmission in each class with $1,000. The racers won’t have to be using any ATI products in their car to be eligible for the award, but they do need to have a Jim Beattie Memorial decal present throughout the event.

Beattie started ATI Performance Products with drag racers in mind, and was a staunch drag race supporter. JC Beattie Jr. runs both a 2009 Drag Pak Challenger and a COPO Camaro in Super Stock to continue ATI’s product development, and keep the family name on the track.

This memorial race is a great way to honor Jim Beattie’s devotion to drag racing, and its participants.
