If you tell me that you have a 1000hp drag car and then pull up in this Audi A5 I would be impressed. When I think of 1000hp drag cars, I immediately think of domestic cars that can blitz the quarter mile like nothing. I know non-domestics can make that sort of power, but in my area, they are rare. A Swedish guy named Jens Eklund took a different approach with an Audi A5 than hopping it up for twisties as you might expect. The A5 looked like it was a very nice car to start with. Eklund took that car and totally stripped it down. It appears that the only remaining parts are the body panels that have been attached to a rolling tube chassis and full roll cage for safety.
The car is powered by a 1000hp, turbocharged 5-cylinder engine rather than a big V8 like you might find under the hood of the domestic iron I am more familiar with. Still, 1000hp is 1000hp and this car is a beast. Just look at the meat under the rear of the car. The A5 has a parachute to slow it down at the end of the run and a wheelie bar to keep the car planted on the ground.
If you are the sort that hates to see a nice Euro car ripped apart perhaps you can find some solace in the fact that all of those original A5 parts are for sale. What do you think this bad boy will do in the quarter mile? With 1000hp, the beast should be very fast. I wonder what the car sounds like, I’ve never seen an A5 in person and paid any attention to it much less seen one with this sort of power.
