Electrical tape can be found in any racer’s toolbox, and it gets used for a variety of tasks it was never intended to handle. Design Engineering Inc. (DEI) saw a need and created Fire Tape, a self-vulcanizing tape that addresses the limitations of traditional electrical tape.

Fire Tape is different from electrical tape and other adhesive-backed tapes because it is self-fusing, meaning it bonds to itself. It also won’t leave behind problematic sticky residue when removed. Fire Tape maintains its flexibility after it has been applied, which expands its potential uses on a vehicle.

Since Fire Tape is waterproof, it can be used to protect wiring splices, connections, and wiring harnesses. This airtight and liquid-tight seal expands where and how Fire Tape can be used around a vehicle. The 700-psi tensile strength of Fire Tape helps it maintain its bond even in extreme conditions.

Fire Tape can withstand up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit of continuous, direct heat. That’s a feature other adhesive-backed tapes just don’t have. That means you don’t have to worry about Fire Tape failing when you need to use it under the hood of your vehicle.
