Big Baller Coupe 3.0 made it’s first trips down a racing surface last night during a three car no-prep test session at North Star Dragway just north of Dallas. This former Street Outlaws competitor made headlines last fall with a dramatic top end crash at a no-prep event in Oklahoma and after a busy winter, made his first hits on the new Big Baller Coupe 3.0 preparing for a big race next weekend.
These cars from the “817” (Ft. Worth, Texas) were on hand in Denton to get some testing action in, leading up to the Doomsday No Prep Shootout at North Star Dragway on April 4th. The no-prep craze is in full will swing across North America and organized events are now frequently being held at drag strips across the southwest. These events are broken down into multiple classes but offer a “street style” track prep on a much safer venue and pack the house with spectators eager to see these very high horsepower machines and fearless drivers do battle for bragging rights.
Testing went well for all three teams and after a handful of hits from each car, they were gone as quickly as they showed up, learning what they came to learn in just a few hours. The Texas vs. Oklahoma rivalry has been brewing in the no-prep crowd for years. Last weekend, an accomplished North Texas bracket racer entered an organized no-prep street race in Houston and defeated Street Outlaws’ Doc in the final round. With two additional no-prep events in the month of April at drag strips in North Texas, there is plenty of action to be had for hungry no-prep racers looking to satisfy their addiction to drag racing.
