The Holly Springs Motorsports 1/8-mile dragstrip, located in northern Mississippi, suffered catastrophic damage on Wednesday after a large tornado, measured as much as 3/4-mile wide at times, pummeled the city of Holly Springs. The tornado, which was a product of a large swath of severe weather in the South and Midwest, caused major damage in and around the city, and resulted in the loss of at least one life at press time, according to multiple sources.
The track, as evidenced by these first photos, was virtually destroyed, as was the home of track managers Terry and Carol Forsythe, which is located near the track. We’ll have more on this developing story as information becomes available. Our thoughts are with the Forsythe’s, the entire Holly Springs Motorsports team, and everyone in the Holly Springs area effected by these storms.
