The International Hot Rod Association sent shockwaves around drag racing during the Performance Racing Industry show on Friday afternoon, announcing that it has acquired Maple Grove Raceway, a historic drag racing facility widely regarded as one of the fastest and most respected tracks in the United States.

Established in the early 1960s, Maple Grove Raceway has built a national reputation as a premier destination for drag racers and fans. The facility has been a prime stop on the NHRA national event tour since 1985, and recently marked its fourth straight year with at least one day of sold-out fan attendance at the Keystone Nationals. The event is part of the already-announced 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule — part of the all-important Countdown to the Championship, no less — no doubt leaving a significant hole to be filled by the NHRA.

The acquisition follows a period of revitalization under the leadership of the Koretsky family, who implemented modern operational improvements while maintaining the family-focused culture that has defined Maple Grove for decades. The Koretsky family reportedly will continue to play an active role throughout the transition and in guiding the facility’s future direction.

“This is a track with deep roots and an even stronger future,” says Darryl Cuttell, Owner of IHRA. “Maple Grove represents what racing should be—competitive, welcoming, and centered around racers and families. Bringing it under the IHRA umbrella is not just a business decision; it’s a commitment to strengthening the sport and investing in its long-term success.”

The Koretsky family emphasized the personal significance of the transition and the values shared between the two organizations.

“Maple Grove has always been more than a racetrack to our family—it is home, not just for us, but for generations of racers,” the Koretskys says. “Our mission has always been to preserve this facility and ensure it remains a premier racing destination. Seeing Maple Grove join the IHRA family feels like a natural and meaningful next step for the sport.

“Meeting Darryl and Leah from the IHRA was truly eye-opening. Their vision, work ethic, and genuine passion for racers and fans are unmatched. Their innovative, forward-thinking approach is exactly what this sport has been missing. The IHRA shares our values—making racing affordable, fun, and family-centered. This new chapter is about honoring Maple Grove’s legacy while elevating the experience for future generations.”

Under IHRA ownership, Maple Grove Raceway is expected to see continued investment in racer-focused services, fan amenities, youth and grassroots development, safety programs, and infrastructure improvements. The acquisition aligns with IHRA’s broader vision to elevate drag racing at every level while preserving the traditions that have defined the sport for decades.

Additional announcements regarding future events, programming, and initiatives at Maple Grove Raceway are expected in the coming months.
