Where the automotive industry progresses to is fully dependent on the next generations of automotive enthusiasts, but without the latest technology to train with, these kids won’t have the skills to take the car world to the next level. Luckily, automotive students in La Puente, California’s Nogales High School already have a jump on their automotive know-how thanks to two dynamometers from SuperFlow Technologies recently added to their shop class. Check out the classroom dynamometers in action in the video above, compliments of Los Angeles NBC News.
As the only high school in the state to have dynamometers in their shop facility, students at Nogales will certainly be ahead of the curve when going into the automotive workforce. With a chassis dyno and an engine dyno from SuperFlow now at their disposal, students will learn how to diagnose engine and drivetrain problems as well as test vehicles by looking at a computer screen in addition to diving under the hood of a car.
The two SuperFlow dynamometers were added to the school’s shop equipment through a $2.1 million makeover that brought the schools dated technology up to todays industry standards. The money for the overhaul came from the district as well as a state bond passed five years ago. Thanks to the substantial shop makeover, students will now not only learn shop basics, they’ll also get the skills training for jobs like emissions technician.
Since 1972, SuperFlow has been the trusted name in dynamometers, flowbenches and other drivetrain testing equipment. With this reputation, SuperFlow equipment can be found in performance shops, Jay Leno’s garage, automotive testing facilities and even NASCAR paddocks. With SuperFlow equipment in their shop class, Nogales High School students are guaranteed to gain skills from the very best technology.
It ‘s nice to see that today’s shop students are being given the opportunities to progress in the automotive industry right from high school. As automotive enthusiasts, we’ll owe a lot of where our hobby and industry goes to these young devotees.
