Gary Soulages' Record-Setting 2004 Lightning

Whether you’ve been getting your very own Ford Lightning ready for some on-track heated competition, or you just love seeing some of the world’s fastest door-slammer trucks, this year’s LightningFest is a must see event. After 6 successful years, the National Lightning Owners Club is proud to announce that without a doubt, there will be a 7th round of these festivities coming up this August.

A new look debuting for Jason Wilkerson’s Lightning

One of the most anticipated classes this year is the “Pro Truck” class that’ll feature the baddest Lightning’s rolling to the lanes. Gary Soulages, who lays claim to the world’s fastest Ford Lightning truck with a best E/T of 6.98 in his red 2004. Gary’s truck runs a 283 C.I. Mod Motor with twin 76mm Turbonetics turbo’s. Looking to knock Gary off that #1 slot is Jason Wilkerson, who’s truck has recently been given a fresh new look. Jason’s rig is leading in the cubic inch department, with a 330 C.I. motor running twin Precision turbos. Jason’s best run to date has been a 7.49 @ 177, but improvements are on the way. If these guys can stay consistent throughout eliminations, it’d make for one hell of a final round. To read up on the rest of the Pro Truck participant list, head on over to NLOC.net.

If you’d like to get your very own truck into this race, or just come out to enjoy the fun, mark your calenders for the 27th-29th of August this year, and come on out to KCIR in Kansas City, MO. The true street cruise along with qualifying for all classes will kick off on Friday, and final qualifying runs and eliminations will run throughout the day Saturday. After the on-track fun winds down, on Sunday morning the truck show is going to be held at the local Hooters restaurant, with various best of show trophies being handed out.
