The Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona is one of the most prestigious events on the entire schedule – it’s often the event where class champions are crowned and serves as a final stanza to the grueling NHRA tour.

This past weekend at Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona, CFE Racing customers cleaned up  in the Pro Stock eliminator with a number of stellar performances throughout the course of the event.

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. wrapped up his fifth NHRA Pro Stock championship by winning four races and appearing in eight final rounds during the course of the season. In the process, he became only the eighth driver in NHRA history to win five pro-class championships. This is his first championship since 2008 and comes after a tough 2012 season where he failed to even win a race.

Edwards earned top speed and low ET of the event with a 6.530 blast and 212.23 MPH number on the board during the third session against fellow CFE customer Erica Enders-Stevens.

And in the final round of the event, Rickie Jones, driving the Elite Motorsports Camaro, matched up against Allen Johnson’s Dodge Avenger. Jones scored a holeshot win to take home the race title – the very first NHRA Pro Stock victory of his young racing career – with an .015-second reaction time to go with his 6.584 elapsed time at 210.28 MPH.

For his part, Johnson went .030/6.581/211.03 MPH in the losing effort. Jones relied on a .998 short time and 4.238 eighth-mile time to become the ninth different Pro Stock winner this season.
