Ever since this big-tire Mustang poked its head outside of Proline’s shop doors, we’ve been pretty impressed with what Coby, tuner Steve Petty and everyone else involved with this ride have pulled off – staying competitive anywhere from the PSCA to the ADRL week in and week out is an impressive feat in itself. After a brief encounter with the wall a couple weeks back, the car was brought over to Texas Chassisworks in Tyler,TX for some light chassis repair and perform some minor repairs to the carbon body.
Checkout Ross from Texas Chassisworks’ post on Modded Mustangs to get a look at what they’ve been changin’ up on Rabon’s car. Be sure to follow along with the Proline team on Prolineracing.net.
Aside from the repair-work, the headers were redesigned to allow the team to move the turbo’s back closer to the firewall instead of the traditional turbos peeking out the grille. While the guys at Texas Chassisworks were successful in getting the car out just in time for last weekend’s NHRA Unleashed event in Atlanta, Rabon struggled to get off a clean pass in the Atlanta heat and didn’t come up with the impressive showing they were hoping for, with engine troubles in the first round of qualifying. It wasn’t a total loss however, as they did bust off a solid 4.13 at 187 MPH lifting on the big end, but unfortunately it didn’t count towards their qualifying effort.
Running high 5’s in the quarter and low 4’s in the eighth is a tall order, but with the help of 670 cubic inches and a pair of monstrous 108mm Precision turbos, these guys are getting it done in style. Keep your eyes peeled for this team at the upcoming ADRL event, though don’t rule out these boys to come in and spoil some Pro-Mod races abroad.
