Here Comes The WOOOO: WOOOSTOCK Set For Big 2018 Event At Darlington

Drag racing is the most diverse form of motorsports in the world with its many styles and classes of racing. The binding agent for all of these racers is the thrill of speed and competing against one another on race day, so displaying different styles of racing at one event is never an issue. WOOOSTOCK brings the worlds of grudge, no-time, and heads-up racing together at one fun-filled event that celebrates the diversity of drag racing.

The idea behind WOOOSTOCK is to give the grudge and no-time world an event that shows what their style of racing is all about in a fun atmosphere. At WOOOSTOCK these racers get some camera time in front of an audience that might not normally see them race, and it brings the pure insanity of Radial vs The World to the grudge racing fans.

The team of Lance Stanford and Travis Harvey from Carolina N/T Small Tire Racing Productions worked with radial tire champion Keith Berry to bring the idea of WOOOSTOCK to life.

“Keith came to one of our events and raced after he won Lights Out and had a blast. We started talking about putting on a race together and that’s where the idea for WOOSTOCK came from. Since we allow class cars to race in our shootouts at Carolina N/T Small Tire Racing Production events, WOOOSTOCK gives no-time and class racers a chance to see who really is faster,” Stanford explains.

The no-time classes at WOOOSTOCK are more open than most such events. There aren’t any weight limits and all racers need to have is a car that fits the class combination.

“We have a drivers meeting and set the ladder after we draw chips. The two fastest cars could draw each other in the first round and that’s different from class racing. It makes things a lot more exciting because nobody knows what others are running, but just because a class car is there doesn’t mean they are going to run their normal time since there are no weight limits,” Stanford says.

The biggest names in Radial vs The World racing will also be making their way to WOOOSTOCK to try and bring home the healthy payday that will be on the line. At last year’s edition of WOOOSTOCK, Steve Jackson was able to reset the radial tire record on the Darlington Dragway surface, and with the level of performance seen at the recent Sweet 16, that record could fall again at Darlington.

When WOOOSTOCK hits Darlington Dragway April 12-14 you better be ready for non-stop racing action. All of the racing will be broadcast LIVE on SpeedVideo thanks to presenting sponsor Lunati, along with Lithium Pros, WELD Racing, SCT, Doorslammers.com, FAST, and Late Model Engines.
