As we’ve seen time and again, Craiglist is often a haven for car folks lacking some in the intellectual department, with ads for 10-second street cars with slicks and a wing being passed off as a Pro Modified car, among other comical oddities, but every now and then, the online classifieds website produces a car that’s truly legit, and although the asking price may be questionable, this ’68 Camaro is the real deal.
Advertised as an Outlaw 275 car, albeit not quite an Outlaw 275 car, this first-gen Camaro has a 6.00 ET (25.2 cert) roll cage and chassis built by Acors Performance — a builder that’s been involved in some other top notch projects we’ve featured here on Dragzine.
The powerplant is a Brodix 565 cubic inch short deck big block, with a Lunati crankshaft, JE 14.5:1 pistons, Oliver billet rods, Dart ported heads, a Jesel belt drive and rockers, COMP roller camshaft, Isky lifters, a Dart intake topped with a Holley 1250 Dominator. Other components include a 7530 MSD ignition system, an ATI damper, and Moroso vacuum pump, along with other powerful goodies. The engine has only made pulls on the dyno thus far, producing 830 horses and 700 ft-lbs of torque. Complete and ready to run, those horses will transfer through a Freddy Brown-built Powerglide to a steel Mark Williams center section with a 4.30 gear and 40-spline, gun drilled axles turning the 315 ET Street Radials riding on CalTracs.
According to the owner, this combination is good for 1/4 mile laps in the low nines, which certainly won’t get it done in Outlaw 275 or Ultimate Street, but the car presents a great platform to start from. From the information we can glean, we’re not sure if these numbers are with or without the two stages of nitrous plumbed into the car.
The seller is asking a pretty steep $65,000 for the this gorgeous, sinister-black Camaro, which is arguably a bit much, but for the right buyer, this will make quite an eye-catching new purchase.
