Dan Knoll Brings a Little Added Class To X275

One of the quickest and fastest cars to ever run in the NMCA’s True Street class is Dan Knoll’s super clean Chevy Nova. His other ride, a beautiful 1966 Chevrolet Bel Air, is being updated to compete in the popular X275 category, and Fast Forward Race Cars recently finished the updates to the car. Dave Klayput’s Proformance Transmission is working his magic on the Turbo 400 transmission and then it’s off to the track for some action.

This big-bodied classic will be motivated by a 565 cubic inch big block Chevy and the power adder of choice is the giggle gas injected through fogger nozzles. A stock suspension, nitrous big block Bel-Air isn’t something that you often see in 275 racing, and that’s what makes this car so popular. Well, that and the fact that it’s nice enough to be a top competitor in almost any car show.

Many people were very surprised to see this car coming out of Dan Knoll’s stable. Everyone was looking for a Mustang to be his new ride, and rumor has it that the Mustang is in the process of being built. However, it sounds as though this classic Chevrolet became available and Knoll jumped on it and made something very different out of it. The Bel-Air was originally designed, constructed and built by Brad Brink. The car was a small block 327 four-speed car at one time and the previous owner sold it to build a garage. After he saw what they were doing to his former cruiser he regretted selling it but is glad to see it so looking so good.

Look for this classic in x275 this season sporting Mickey Thompson 275/60R15 Drag Radials.
