The engine is a freshly updated 600 cubic inch BBC from Uratchko Racing Engines, also in Michigan. Chris found some more power in the down time utilizing 385 cc heads from Curtis Boggs, Race Flow Development and his own refinements to the combination.

Dave Theisen has spent the better part of two years getting his 69 Firebird back in the game after his August 2008 crash. Initial inspection revealed a lot of bent or broken parts and Dave suspects something in the rear end broke but due to the extensive damage he is not sure of the cause of the accident.

Dave’s previous best of 8.75 @ 156 MPH is nothing to sneeze at but he is looking to step up to 8.40’s or even into the 8.3 range and looking to jump into the NMCA Pro Stock class in the next year or two.

Some NMCA/NMRA drivers all ready compete in All Motor such as John Langer and Butch Kemp. The Milan series allows a true 29.5 x 10.5 slick or limited radial sizes up to a 325/50 and wheelie bars with a fifty pound penalty

Dave began bracket racing at age seventeen and switched to heads up NA class at Milan when he was twenty four. The engine is backed by a TH 400 transmission and a Ford 9 in. rear.

Other plans for the car include OSCR and RAM races where time and funds allow. Dave sends out special thanks to his parents, V&J Recovery Inc. and girlfriend Anna for all the help as well as Kevin Wright for the fabulous paint and bodywork.

The car was taken to Jim Powski Racecraft Engineering for chassis upgrades and repairs with some weight reduction in strategic areas to come in at the minimum class weight of 3350 for his combo. Jim Filipowski is well known for quality craftsmanship in the industry with his shop based in Brighton, Michigan.
