Dry sump oiling systems are used to help maximize an engine’s horsepower and provide more precise control over the lubrication process. The majority of LS-based engines came with a wet sump oiling system, but thanks to Moroso you can now easily convert your LS engine to a dry sump system with its new three and four tri-lobe stage dry sump pumps with LS brackets.

A dry sump oil pump pulls oil from a shallow oil pan and sends it to the external oil tank that feeds the oil back into the engine. The engine can generate more horsepower since the rotating assembly doesn’t have to deal with the excess oil in the pan. The dry sump system allows for more crankcase vacuum to be created, too…this helps the rings seal better so the engine can make more power. The engine also has more mounting options since there’s no large oil pan to deal with.

Moroso’s dry sump oil pumps have tri-lobe aluminum scavenge sections that use individual timing gears to make sure proper clearance is maintained at the highest of RPM levels. There are several spring rates used in each pump that optimize the oil pressure so you have the most accurate and reliable pressure reading possible. The pumps include a bracket that bolts onto the OEM A/C location on the right side of a GM LS engine block.
