One of the most versatile and successful drivers in NHRA competition is adding another major responsibility to his 2026 racing schedule.
Elite Motorsports and Modern Racing, Inc. announced that Aaron Stanfield will assume driving duties for the ProFlow Pumping Solutions/Modern Racing/Elite Motorsports Pro Modified entry for the remainder of the 2026 JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports season. Stanfield will continue his full-time pursuit of the NHRA Pro Stock championship while adding a complete Pro Mod campaign to his racing calendar.
The move comes following Mason Wright’s decision to step away from full-time competition as he shifts his focus toward expanding his business interests and spending more time with family.
Mason Wright Steps Away From Full-Time Competition
Wright has become a respected competitor in NHRA Pro Mod while simultaneously building a successful business portfolio through Shaneda Machine, Inc. in Odessa, Texas. As those business commitments continue to grow, Wright made the difficult decision to step back from racing.
“Oilfields run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and so do the people who work in them,” Wright shared on social media. “That work ethic has carried over into everything I’ve done, including drag racing. But as our businesses continue to grow, they require my full-time attention. This decision allows me to focus on family, our companies, and the future we’re building together.”
While Wright’s departure creates a vacancy behind the wheel, Elite Motorsports already had a proven solution within its own ranks.
Elite Motorsports Turns To A Proven Winner

Few drivers in drag racing are more qualified to step into a competitive Pro Mod program than Stanfield.
The Louisiana native has built an impressive résumé across multiple NHRA categories, earning world championships and victories while establishing himself as one of the sport’s most complete drivers. His ability to adapt to different race cars has become a defining characteristic throughout his career.
That versatility was on full display earlier this year when Stanfield captured one of the biggest victories in modern Pro Mod racing, winning the prestigious World Series of Pro Mod in Bradenton, Florida, and collecting the event’s massive $150,000 payday.
That performance gave team owners confidence that Stanfield could immediately contend in the highly competitive NHRA Pro Mod ranks.
“We fully support Mason and wish him nothing but the absolute best as he shifts his primary focus to his family and his rapidly expanding business priorities,” Elkes said. “At the same time, we are incredibly excited to promote from within our Elite Team alliance by having Aaron Stanfield step in to handle the driving duties for the remainder of the season. His proven talent and recent Pro Modified success make him the perfect fit to step in and keep our momentum moving forward.”
A Natural Fit For Elite Motorsports

Stanfield’s transition into the ProFlow Pumping Solutions Pro Mod entry continues a long-standing relationship with Elite Motorsports and team owner Richard Freeman.
Freeman praised Wright’s contributions while emphasizing that the door remains open should he choose to return to racing in the future.
“We can’t thank Mason enough for the incredible amount of time, dedication, and resources he’s poured into this program,” Freeman said. “He’s been a tremendous part of what we’ve built, both on and off the racetrack, and we fully support him as he focuses on his family and businesses. The door will always be open here at Elite Motorsports. If and when Mason is ready to get back behind the wheel, he’ll always have a place with us.”
Freeman’s confidence in Stanfield is well-founded. Few drivers have demonstrated the ability to jump between classes and remain competitive at the highest levels of NHRA competition.
Bristol Marks The Beginning Of A New Chapter
Stanfield’s first race in the new role will come at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway and the timing could hardly be better.
Elite Motorsports has shown significant performance gains across multiple categories in recent weeks, and Stanfield enters Bristol with momentum and confidence after proving he can win in a Pro Mod against elite competition.
“It’s an honor to get the call to represent ProFlow Pumping Solutions, Modern Racing, and Elite Motorsports for the rest of the year,” Stanfield said. “Pro Mod is an absolute blast and incredibly competitive. Coming off the big win in Bradenton earlier this year, I feel confident we can give this team a great showing at Bristol along with the rest of the season.”
