Event Preview: PDRA Mid-American Indy Showdown

The PDRA is set to make its first appearance at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis July 12-15 for the inaugural Mid-American Indy Showdown. There will be more than just pride on the line, as all of the PDRA’s best racers try to solidify their spots in the points championship at this event going into the latter half of the summer. All of this exciting action will be broadcast live RIGHT HERE on SpeedVideo.com all weekend long when the racing begins!

Lucas Oil Raceway is rich with racing history and has been the scene of some of the biggest moments in drag racing history. Now, the PDRA is ready to come to this iconic track and make their own mark with an exhilarating race for their fans. Racers from all over the country will be making the trip to the Hoosier state to take part in the Mid-American Indy Showdown and be a part of the action.

Thus far this year at PDRA events we’ve seen Pro Extreme cars take on jet cars, but the Mid-American Showdown is taking thigs to a whole new level. In what will be a symphony of blower noise, Pro Extreme racer Jason Scruggs will be taking on Dave Hirata in his Top Alcohol Dragster. This will be one grudge race you won’t want to miss when these two line up and show who’s faster: a doorslammer or dragster!

The biggest points battle in the PDRA that will be providing all the fireworks at the Mid-American Indy Showdown is in the Pro Nitrous class, between Jay Cox and Tommy Franklin. Going into this event last year’s champion Franklin trails Cox by just six points. Cox won the North-South Shootout in Maryland and defeated Franklin along the way while calling out the entire Pro Nitrous class, as well. Will Franklin be able to retake the points lead, or will Cox continue his march toward the title? The only way to find out is to be at the race or watch it live!

Besides the cut-throat racing in Pro Nitrous, the fans will get to see all the other great PDRA classes on the track at Lucas Oil Raceway. There will also be a full class of Gassers racing all weekend long with tons of wheels-up launches and gear-banging action on full display. Add in the packed manufacturers midway and the Mid-American Indy Showdown will have something for everyone!
