It’s that time of week again as we all keep one eye on our computer screens and the other on the time clock before bursting out the door for the weekend, and we’ve got another unique in-car ride along from the cozy confines of a Nostalgia Funny Car. And unlike the video we shared from inside Russ Parker’s alcohol-burning machine that displayed how a pass isn’t supposed to go, Jon Capps shows us how it looks when all goes according to plan.
Capps, the brother of NHRA Funny Car star Ron Capps and who makes part-time appearances on the NHRA trail himself, mounted a camera to his helmet last weekend at the Geezers at the Grove event as he drove Henry Gutierrezs’ Jungle Jim Tribute Camaro flopper, tuned by veteran Paul Smith, in the Chicago-style nitro Nostalgia Funny Car showdown.
Being the techy geeks that we are here at powerTV, the incredible high-definition clarity void of the usual waviness and jittering and the great audio that captures every cackle was one of the first things that got out attention. Well, for those curious, the camera taking a 230 mph ride aboard the ‘Jungle Jim’ flopper is a Replayxd xd1080p, which is about the size of a small flashlight.
