One of the most recognizable names on the hit TV show Street Outlaws, “Daddy Dave” Comstock, had an unfortunate accident last year while driving his nitrous-huffing Goliath Chevy II. Barrel-rolling numerous times while at a No-Prep event at Amarillo Dragway in Texas, it rendered the car a total loss. After recovering from his injuries, Dave began working on a reincarnation of his famed car, dubbing it Goliath 2.0.
We had a chance to catch up with Fragola Performance Systems while Dave’s car was being plumbed and prepped for its debut. The new platform was outfitted with Fragola’s 500 psi working pressure-rated premium black nylon hose. This 302 stainless steel reinforced single braid hose is composed of a black synthetic rubber core that’s resistant to oil, fuels, coolants, and alcohols that are common in this form of application. Fragola also added its ultra-lightweight fire sleeve composed of resin-coated fiberglass to the outside of all its hoses to increase the heat rating to 1,200 degrees.
This heavy-duty hosing system is finished with Fragola’s Sport Crimp line of hose ends. These fittings must be attached using a crimp machine, and feature a crimp collar that easily threads onto the hose end, and are completely adjustable after install, thanks to Fragola’s unique double swivel design.
“The one cool thing we did to give this hose some fire protection was that we covered the hose with our ultra-lightweight fire sleeve,” described Jeff Stacy of Fragola Performance Systems. “We tucked the fire sleeve under the crimp collar to ensure the fire sleeve wouldn’t pull back after use. This assembly gave Goliath a very lightweight and durable plumbing system. We outfitted the entire fuel system, upper and lower radiator hoses, vacuum pump, and transmission cooler lines.”
Keep an eye out for Dave and his Fragola-equipped Goliath 2.0, which he plans to use to decimate the competition on an upcoming season of Street Outlaws airing on The Discovery Channel.
