The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) will soon celebrate a first. For the first time, the Pro Stock class entry form has a female name on it. Kristen Tucker of Carbrook, Queensland (Australia) is registered to compete in Pro Stock at the Fuchs Winter Nationals at Willow Bank Raceway June 8-11, 2012.

The Tucker name is not new to Australian Pro Stock competition. Kristen’s father, Rob, was a long-time drag racer with a Pro Stock Championship on his impressive list of accomplishments. Kristen also has a brother, Shane, who with his Monster Energy Pro Stocker is a contender in the hunt for a championship.

Kristen and Shane came up through the Junior Dragster ranks together. While Shane continued to pursue a racing career, Kristen made the choice to take some time off to marry fellow ANDRA Drag Racer John Cannuli and start a family. Now she is set to re-enter drag racing with full force, making her professional debut in the same car her brother championed last year.

Although Kristen is lacking in experience with the high horsepower pro stock cars, her crew and family provide a wealth of knowledge to draw from.
Kristen’s first goal at the Winter Nationals will be to earn her Pro Stock license. In addition, she will be competing against 28 other drivers attempting to make the 16 car field. This sets the record for the most pro stock cars registered for the winter nationals.

In total, there are 513 teams entered in 18 classes. In Pro Stock, history making is on its way as all eyes will be on the Fuchs Winter Nationals competition and their new female driver, Kristen Tucker.
