
Haltech’s flagship Nexus R5 engine management system has been accepted by the NHRA for use within the Pro Modified, Factory Stock Showdown, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car divisions in 2024.
In order to be NHRA compliant, entrants must use firmware in their Nexus R5 that is specifically built for the intended class of racing. This firmware can be downloaded on Haltech’s website, or through the “Tools > Firmware Update” menu of the Haltech NSP (Nexus Software Programmer). There is no cost for this firmware.
Pro Modified (ProCharger): Firmware version V1.22.3:11
This firmware includes the following class limitations:
- Torque Management allows “Timed Ignition Correction” only.
- Main RPM Limiter is always enabled.
Main RPM Limiter End RPM fixed to 10,000 RPM
- Transmission Control – The minimum time between the start of gear shifts is:
600ms (0.6 seconds) Gears 1, 2 and 3
400ms (0.4 seconds) Gears 4 and above.
Pro Modified: Firmware version V1.22.3:13
- This firmware includes the following class limitations:
- Torque Management allows “Timed Ignition Correction” only.
- Transmission Control – The minimum time between the start of gear shifts is:
600ms (0.6 seconds) Gears 1, 2 and 3
400ms (0.4 seconds) Gears 4 and above.
Factory Stock Showdown: Firmware version V1.22.3:12
This firmware includes the following class limitations:
- Torque Management allows “Timed Ignition Correction” only.
- Main RPM Limiter is always enabled.
Main RPM Limiter End RPM fixed to 10,200 RPM
- Transmission Control – The minimum time between the start of gear shifts is:
600ms (0.6 seconds) Gears 1, 2 and 3
400ms (0.4 seconds) Gears 4 and above.
