At this weekend’s inaugural X-DRL Gateway Showdown at the Gateway Motorsports Park just outside of St. Louis, Texas doorslammer standout Doug Reisterer will be among the entrants, but it won’t be at the helm of his familiar LenMar Motorsports Camaro. Due to a scheduling conflict involving Keith Haney Racing team driver Monroe Guest, Haney has tabbed Reisterer, who has been helping tune the matching Chevrolet Camaros this season, to step into the team’s second car to contest the X-Treme Pro Mod division.

“Doug Riesterer has been helping tune our cars all year long and is a championship driver in his own right,” Haney said. “Since Monroe couldn’t be in St. Louis with us this weekend, Doug is a great choice for the black car.”

In addition to his driving duties, Reisterer will continue to tune the nitrous-injected race cars alongside Pro Extreme racer Brandon Pesz.

“We want to keep both of our cars in front of our fans and sponsors,” Haney said. “Doug is one of the best Pro Nitrous drivers in the country, so I convinced him to drive for us this weekend.

“With Doug driving and tuning, I think it’ll also help me as a driver with my race car. Doug will be getting a lot of track information first-hand, which will help both cars significantly.”

Reisterer emerged victorious at last year’s ADRL Gateway Drags, and he did it in grand fashion, as he and his team didn’t even depart for the 1,000 mile journey to St. Louis until late in the evening of the first day of qualifying. After arriving in the morning hours and making just one qualifying hit, he then barnstormed his way through eliminations and downed Burton Auxier in the final.
