Roger Holder got as much out of this weekend in Vegas as any seasoned card shark. Not only did Holder wheel the swoopy orange Holder Motorsports Camaro to the win in ProCharger Pro Radial at the Street Car Super Nationals, he also knocked over two tenths off of the old 1/4-mile radial record, culminating with an other-worldly 6.12 at 244 MPH.
Holder’s win is a great cap to a season in which the California-based team spent a lot of time on the road, as they made the long hauls to race at The Outlaw Street Car Reunion in Memphis as well as Duck X Productions’ No Mercy deep in the heart of Georgia to compete with the best of the best in the radial world. With Josh Deeds of Deeds Performance steadily chipping away at the wicked Camaro’s tune, the team rolled into Vegas with high hopes and walked out on top.
The weekend began with a bang for the Holder team, as their first full pass, a 6.19 at 240, knocked two tenths off the old record. Roger wheeled the car to a string of teens over the course of the weekend as they progressed through qualifying and eliminations, peaking with the 6.12 in the second round of eliminations with a crazy 4.116 at 192 mph to half track. The ET’s remained on the threshold of the record throughout eliminations as well, until the finals when Holder slowed to a 6.65. It didn’t matter, though, as Holder’s final round opponent, David Rogers, slowed immediately off the line and coasted to an 18-second pass.
The Holder Motorsports crew took to social media all weekend to reach out to their fans, as well as thanking those who helped them pull of the huge win. They thanked their crew, sponsors, and of course, the patient wives that allow them to go race. Among those mentioned: Rod Wheeler, Chris Wheeler, Brian Peterson, Dave Pressley, Brylon Holder, Josh Deeds with Deeds Performance Inc, Roberta & Summer Holder, Amber Skillman and Kelly Presley. They also thanked Proline Racing, Big Stuff 3, Speedwire, Rossler Transmissions Inc, Menscer Motorsports, Ultra-Carbon, MSD, Racepak, Mickelson Thompson Tires, and chassis builder B&B Race Cars.
