HOT ROD Magazine helped pioneer the magazine-backed drag racing event format with the Fastest Street Car Shootout at Memphis Motorsports Park. That success eventually led to other major events such as the HOT ROD Power Tour and Drag Week.

Now, HOT ROD is bringing back one of its biggest events to EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta on August 28–29, 2026. The HOT ROD Power Fest will combine many of the elements found at HOT ROD’s other festival-style events into one weekend.

The concept behind Power Fest is simple: if you have a vehicle and enjoy using it, there’s a place for you at the event. Enthusiasts who prefer to show off their vehicles can participate in the car show and also join a short cruise led by Angie and David Hurt of A&D Hot Rod Shop. Think of it as a mini version of the HOT ROD Power Tour.

Drag Racing At HOT ROD Power Fest

During HOT ROD Power Fest, EchoPark Speedway’s pit road will be transformed into an eighth-mile drag strip.

The drag racing program will feature:

  • Small Tire
  • Daily Driver
  • Stick Shift Shootout

Cash payouts include $1,500 to the winner, $750 to the runner-up, and $500 to each semifinalist.

HOT ROD Power Fest Autocross

If carving corners and dodging cones is more your style, Power Fest will also feature an autocross competition.

The autocross classes are:

  • Modern — 1990 and newer
  • Vintage — 1989 and older
  • Truck/SUV

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each class, along with an overall event winner.

With drag racing, autocross, a car show, and a cruise all packed into one weekend, HOT ROD Power Fest is designed to give enthusiasts multiple ways to enjoy their vehicles.
