Hughes Performance has been a familiar name in the drag racing industry since their humble beginnings in 1971, and more than 40 years later, the company enjoys a status as one of the distinguished leaders in the racing and high performance driveline market, and Power Automedia welcomes them aboard as one of the latest partners here on Dragzine.
Founded by the late William Charles Hughes Sr., Hughes Performance carries more than four decades of racing transmission and converter manufacturing experience, and that know-how has helped them to deliver some of the most ground-breaking and best-performing racing transmissions and other driveline components in drag racing, year after year. With in-house race machines and sponsored racers whose vehicles serve as the test beds for the very products they sell, Hughes Performance is able to gain invaluable information for the continual research and development of new and existing products, and their track record of quality and durability is out on display at race tracks across the country.
Unveiled at the PRI Show this winter, this is one of Hughes' latest bolt-together torque converters, showing the level of craftsmanship that goes into their products.
Hughes Performance boasts a number of racing transmissions for a wide range of applications, including their new state-of-the-art, all-aluminum SuperGlide case, their extremely popular Sportsman and Pro Series Powerglides, the 4L80E automatic Overdrive, and street/strip units for Ford (the E40D/4R100 4-speed electronic overdrive), GM (4L60E overdrive), and Chrysler (A727 TorqueFlite) vehicles. The newest kid on the block is the XP4, the Xtreme Pro Mod Powerglide transmission.
On the converter side, Hughes has a full range of high performance units for street/strip-style machines, along with their Full Race Competition units the likes of the Pro III Series.
As well, Hughes has a product line for circle track applications, tow vehicles, trucks, and a whole suit of transmission, converter, and other driveline components.
